Sydney Pride & Sydney Solstice

June was a whirlwind month where two shows landed brilliant venues, a week apart and after months of looking for a great curator willing to give them a go.

Lorraine Lock of Eastside Sydney was that person. She picked up Salón Flamenco and Flamenco For Everybody for Sydney Pride & Sydney Solstice for Destination NSW.

Flamenco For Everybody was additionally supported by Create NSW with ‘Play the City’ funds for the artists fees and costs.

The artists delivered beautiful performances in both shows. And we worked hard to get these shows sold out. Which they were.

Stonewall Hotel was brilliant to work in, Glenn is wonderful and his entire staff. The top floor cabaret stage was transformed into an intimate theatre space by Future Shock from EVH Productions. Eleanor Petricevic, a tertiary student of Australian Institute of Music, gained her final course credits interning on both shows. Eleanor is the best!

1880 Parish Church on Devonshire St was a simply beautiful space filled with atmosphere and ambience. It was a rainy cold night but everyone showed up! Thanks to Father Macdonald and Angela Chan for allowing us to use the community space for Flamenco! Susan Suleman, a tertiary student from Australian College of Dance also came on board to help as an intern. We love you, Susan!
