Salón Flamenco at Sydney WorldPride

We celebrated our third season of Salón Flamenco by honouring the great Carmen Amaya, a legendary artist, flamenco master and pioneer.

“Her preferred tight matador pants, she exuded the pansexual, virtually demonic charisma of a rock star. Her lightning footwork, faster than the eye could comprehend, made audiences dizzy”.

"She was from the race of the rebels, of those people who stray from the beaten track and ordinary rules, who only show that there is suffering in their dancing, like there is suffering in existence, and a rage for living. It is a dance that is marked by fire, whose thirst could only be quenched through death”.

Salón Flamenco was hosted by the iconic Stonewall Hotel for Sydney WorldPride, part of Pride Amplified from Feb 20-23. There are so many people and partners and funder to thank and so much to tell - where to start?

Thank you to all these amazing people;

Maree Laffan, Alex Craig, Imogen Yang, Rosemary Cisneros, Zoe Velez, Aloe Lu, Alice Terry, Dance Domain Studios, Bush Music Club, Glenn Hansen, Lorraine Lock, Eastside Sydney, EZY Hire, BAM Studios and Ausdance NSW team ~ you rock.

Salón’s performing artists and production team were supported through Create NSW's and City of Sydney's Quick Response funds.
